Event information for Artists
All skill levels and experience are welcomed in the World Jade Symposium; this is a celebration of Jade Arts and Culture. We will all be learning and sharing with each other in the online forum during the carving period. The exhibition will present the world a fine collection of contemporary jade carvings, showcasing the variety of beautiful jade, artistry and voices from around the world. There are two different categories open for artwork submission: Sculpture and Jewelry.
A single category registration fee is $100. A second registration fee is only $50. You may only submit one entry per category. Each registration fee entitles an artist to:
- Carve your best with a great bunch of fellow artists
- Showcase themselves and their artwork to a global audience.
- Network and share ideas with other carvers around the world in a great online forum
- Free full pass into the live conference and exhibition in Vancouver, November 21st to 23rd, 2014
- The World Jade Symposium DVD of the exhibition
- The World Jade Symposium booklet
The artist is free to select any jade (jadeite or nephrite) to use for their submission(s). If any artist is looking for a special stone, The World Jade Symposium has a beautiful collection of jades available for purchase. There are specimens of all shapes and sizes from Dease Lake, Yukon and Kutcho Creek jade deposits. All proceeds from sales help support the event and exhibition. Please see “Jade Page” on the website.
Each Artist must, entirely by their own hand, design, carve and finish their submitted jade work without direct assistance. The WJSA will research if there is any contention.
Other materials may be incorporated into submitted jade artwork, only if they are fabricated and constructed by the submitting symposium artist themselves. These secondary materials must support the overall theme of the predominantly jade artwork.
Carving deadline is October 31, 2014 (Pacific Time).
Images of your finished artwork must be submitted. Late entries will not be accepted. Each carving must be photographed and images must be submitted online to www.jadesymposium.com by midnight on October 31st, 2014.
